Location & History
Banlung is the capital of Ratanakiri province in Northeastern Cambodia. Located 636km from Phnom Penh, Ratanakiri province shares the borders with Vietnam and Laos. Banlung is also the capital of Banlung District with a population of around 17,000 and the surrounding districts have a population of 23,888. The town became the the capital of Ratanakiri province in 1979, following the fall of the Khmer Rouge.
Tourism
It is often used by travelers as a base for a few days to visit the area since it is located in the center of Ratanakiri province, and offers easy access to the villages of ethnic minorities, impressive waterfalls and the national park which form the main tourist attractions in the area. The city also has an offer quite standard hotels and guesthouses and a very interesting market because many ethnic minorities living around the city coming to sell their products.
How to get there
Even Banlung is a remote town, it's not difficult to get here thanks for an airfield with flights most days from Phnom Penh. In addition, there is also a road for anyone who wants to come here by car, though road is not perfect
