Laos weather in January
During the first month of the year, the weather in Laos is usually dry with minimal rainfall, promising good travelling conditions throughout the country.
With moderate temperature year around, Laos is the place where you will not face any extreme temperature and climatic effects. The average temperature in Vientiane and Luang Prabang is 24°C, meanwhile in Pakse and the southern regions, it’s slightly warmer reaching 30°C. If you intend to travel to the higher altitude regions in the north and east of the country, or trop in Pakbeng on a cruise along the Mekong River, cooler temperatures (avg temp: 15°C) should be expected, especially at night. In Phongsali, for example, temperatures can drop to as low as 5°C and suitable warm clothing is recommended.
Basically, January is perfect time to visit Laos thanks for sunny days and low rainfall.
