May sees the wet season approaching and the dry heat during the first half of the month is often replaced by a wet heat during the second half, with scattered showers across most of the country. The scattered showers towards the end of the month bring a slight decrease in temperature. However the central and southern regions don’t see much rain in May and continue to see regular temperatures of 40°C (104°F). The beaches along the southern and eastern coasts still have nice weather and even when the showers arrive you can still get sunny days or afternoons.
With the wet season right around the corner, the number of visitors tends to decrease. The beaches become less crowded and the resorts start to quiet down or close for the upcoming rains and bad weather.
