Day 1: Phnom Penh Arrival (-/L/-)
Phnom Penh - Airport: 12km, ~35min drive
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh airport, you will be met and transferred to hotel by our guide and driver. After making sure of your successful hotel check-in, they will be pleased to leave you free time at leisure to recover after the long flight.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we visit the Victory Monument, and the National Museum, also called Musee des Beaux-Arts. A French archaeologist and painter, Georges Groslier, designed it in Khmer style in 1917. The museum contains a collection of Khmer art - notably sculptures - throughout the ages. Our next destination is the Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda. Located within the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles. The treasures found inside include a solid gold Buddha encrusted and weighing 90kilograms and a small 17th century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha. We will end our afternoon with the visit of the Wat Phnom Temple, Phnom Penh's namesake, from where you can enjoy views over the tree-lined avenues of Phnom Penh during sunset.

Phnom Penh - Kep: 164km, ~4h drive
After breakfast at hotel, our journey southwards begins as we depart Phnom Penh and make our first stop at Phnom Chisor Temple dating back from the 11th century. A 500 step path leads up to the top of the hill from where we can enjoy fabulous views over the surrounding countryside. We get on our car to the quiet town of Takeo before taking a short cruise to Angkor Borei town, located just a few kilometer navigation from the Vietnam border. There is a small museum which displays several reproductions of sculptures from the nearby ruins and few artifacts dating as far back as the 4th century. After seeing this pleasant place, we continue our boat trip to visit a pre-Angkorian style temple of Phnom Da and a nearby temple of Asram Maharosei. The steep path over some big rocks makes Asram Maharosei different from other temples in Cambodia. Proceed to Kep city for overnight.

Morning after breakfast at hotel, we travel to Battambang, the second largest city in Cambodia, Battambang located on both the highway and railroad linking Phnom Penh with Thailand. En route, we will visit the floating village of Kompong Luong in Pursat Province. On arrival, we enjoy a walk around this colonial styled town and visit some outlaying hilltop temples as well as the infamous cave, which used as execution field under the Khmer Rouge rule. There are also some opportunities to take a drive along tiny winding tracks into some small villages where tourists hardly ever venture. Ride the Bamboo Train in the late afternoon before come back to hotel.

After breakfast at hotel, you will be transferred to boat pier of Battambang and embark on the local private boat to cruise to Siem Reap though the Stung Sangke River and Tonle Sap Lake, the journey is very interesting with the local community living on the floating houses and specially we stop and interact with some of local families, visit Buddhist pagodas, local school on the lake. Arrival at Siem Reap transfer to hotel for check in and free in the late afternoon.

In the morning after breakfast, we visit the most famous of all temples on the plain of Angkor, Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers glory on the Cambodian flag and a masterpiece of the 12th Century. Art historians describe him as a prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat's five towers symbolize Meru, the five peaks the enclosing wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding ditches the sea. Lunch is at the hotel. Visit the South Gate with its huge statues and the ancient capital of the 12th Century, Angkor Thom. We continue to see the Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers with over 200 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara paid), the royal residence, Phimeanakas, the Terrace of Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King.

Ridding the ox-card which serves by the villager to view the sunset in the rice field and then return to Siem Reap.

Rail transport
Train travel can be offered (particularly between Hanoi-Lao Cai and Hanoi-Hue). Travelling at a speed of 60km/h on average it is not necessarily the fastest but an interesting experience nonetheless.
