Day 1: Hanoi Street Food on Foot
Your taste bud aficionado will meet you in the lobby of your hotel. The goal of the night is to provide local insight into Hanoi’s unique food culture with a 3-hour walking & street food tour. You will eat as you go, trying seasonal fruits and sampling delicious food just like the locals do on the street.
The first dish to tempt the taste-buds is the famed Banh Cuon (a fermented rice pancake). You’ll enjoy this dish at a local shop where you will be able to watch a skilled chef prepare the dish in front of you. As we continue walking through the maze of the bustling streets to the atmospheric heart of the Old Quarter, you’ll encounter street stalls and quiet residential lanes where you will observe genuine local life. Next, we stop at some outdoor barbeque stalls with various meats, vegetables and bread specialties that are flame grilled over hot coals for extra flavour.
Now it’s time for dessert! You’ll venture down a small alley to join in the local tradition of feasting on fresh fruit served in a cup and smothered with crushed ice and condensed milk. Your last stop will be at a street food restaurant to sample some Banh Mi (Vietnamese bread), Vietnamese rice wine, and Hanoi’s famous egg coffee.
