Gia Lai is a mountainous province on the border of North Highlands at an altitude of 600-800m. The climate is monsoon tropical with 2 seasons: rainy season from May to November and dry season from December to April. The average temperature is 21oC to 25oC.
Pleiku – Gia Lai is a market town, situated on a vast fertile plateau with red soil of volcanic origin. More than 40,000 of its inhabitants belong to various ethnic minorities. Pleiku is nearly 830km from Nha Trang.
Gia Lai is the source of many coastal rivers such as Ba River, Se San River and other waterways. Gia Lai has many streams, lakes, waterfalls and virgin forests that make the spectacular landscapes, romantic but also very wild and primitive. For example: Koh Ka Kinh and Kon Cha Rang tropical forests are home to many rare animals, Xung Khoeng Waterfall in Chu Prong district; very poetic Phu Cuong waterfall in Chu Se district. Several rivers are beautiful as Da Trang stream (White Stone), Mo Creek (Dream) and other scenic spots such as the port in Pa Mong River, very large and quiet To Nung Lake in the mountains, Ham Rong Mountain 1.092m above sea level with the mouth of an extinct volcano.
Xung Khoeng waterfall: 30km from south-western Pleiku. The waters flow from a height of 40m, creating a haze that hovers and looks like a large white silk band.
To Nung Lake is located about 10km from Pleiku city in Gia Lai province. The lake looks like an emerald green water surrounded with red earth. The lake, surrounded by vegetation, bees and butterflies, is located at the mount of an extinct volcano. It offers a spectacular panorama. Indeed the lake gives a good overview of the region. The legendary mountain Horung found in this corner gives even more charm to the lake. Tourists can visit several communal houses and meet friendly people.
