Throughout the first month of a year, Vietnam seems to be in its best condition. The sun shines all over the country from North to South meanwhile the Central region says goodbye to the wet season. The temperature varies depending on each region with the South nearly reaching its hottest and the North getting the coldest.
Northern Vietnam
Featuring tropical climate with four distinct seasons, January can be regarded as the coldest month in a year. Temperature can drop to around 10°C or even below 0°C in mountainous areas although there’s plenty of sunshine with blue skies. Slight rain can be found here and there. The typical condition of the far North is dry but cold and sometimes foggy, especially at night. It’s highly recommended to bring suitable clothing while exploring the country under the tropical monsoon climate with ideal destinations such as Sapa, Mai Chau, and Ha Giang etc.
Central Vietnam
With a transitional climate-wise from North to South, Central Vietnam enjoys its better condition by ending the wet season. Average temperature is around 23°Chelping beaches at Hoian, Danang and Nha Trang take off winter coats and welcome their bright days. The weather in Dalat and Central Highlands is dry but chilly, especially at night.
Southern Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City area is in the middle of dry season when the sun shines until 6 or 7p.m. It’s a great pleasure to see blue skies and there’s very little rainfall all over the region. Average temperature is around26°C.This is an ideal chance to visit Phu Quoc or Mui Ne beaches with plenty of sunshine.
