Vietnam in general receives the highest rainfall in September. Central regions step into rainy season with more frequent rain and thunder storm. The North expects less rain especially at the end of the month when it likely to start being influenced by cold air. The South remains the same as in August but more pleasant. The South remains wet with high humidity level but more pleasant.
Northern Vietnam
Towards the end of summer, North Vietnam expects less rainfall but plenty of hot weather with the average temperature of 28°C. At the end of the month, the temperature starts to slightly drop with less rain. Trekking in mountainous areas such as Sapa in late September is wonderful for photos thanks to cool dry weather.
Central Vietnam
Central regions are moving into the main month of rainy season when September comes. Rainfall increases in Hue and Hoian and storms may appear at the end of the month. The temperature decreases a little bit, around 28°C on average. Nha Trang to the further South also receives more rain. It’s not a good idea to trek or join adventure activities in Dalat and Central Highlands.
Southern Vietnam
Rainfall is decreasing in the South and the weather is much more pleasant than previous summer months. Temperature remains high at around 28°C on average and you can expect plenty of sunshine regardless of frequent rain. Phu Quoc is dominated by the monsoon with continual rain during the time.
