Vung Tau City

With a spectacular location on a peninsula, Vung Tau is a popular weekend escape from Saigon

This is one of the last rocky places before the mouth of the Mekong. It was a top holiday destination for French settlers to escape the bustle of Saigon. It was built by the French government in 1922 under the name of “Cap Saint-Jacques”.

Today, it is Saigoneer who particularly appreciate the place to get away from the bustle of the city and find quiet time for a weekend. The city boasts beautiful beaches. It is a booming resort town with many projects of 5* hotels, an aquarium or an amusement park. It is a place of trade and exchange with its vibrant harbor and you can taste seafood.

During the war, Vung Tau was the residence of many units of American and Australian military support.

A statue of Christ overlooking the city with the height of 32m. To get there, it takes up to 133 stairs that are inside the statue. The city also hosts Buddhist pilgrims through Thich Ca Phat Dai pagoda and Niet Ban Tinh Xa (Temple of Nirvana).
