Rangoon (or Yangon which is its colonial name, the former capital of Myanmar) is located on the Yangon River and 30km from the Gulf of Martaban of the Andaman Sea. The city is the obligatory ending point of any trip to Burma. Yangon gathers pagodas, mosques, churches, synagogues and Hindu temples and has the largest number of colonial buildings all over Southeast Asia.
Dotted with lakes and gardens, Yangon has kept a colonial atmosphere which contributes to its charm. Tourists will also find several historic sites, museums, markets and pleasantly stroll to the park and the Bogyoke Aung San Museum, the Botahtaung pagoda with its mirror maze, the Chauk Buddha Htat Kyee and the Hlawgar zoo with 70 species of animals.
